Learn how to manage your first honeybee colony with CBK’s comprehensive 2027 Beginners Course. Designed for complete newcomers, this hands-on training pairs classroom theory with direct apiary experience, supported by experienced local mentors.
Course Overview
- Theory Location: St. Paul’s Church Hall, Mostyn Broadway, Llandudno
- Practical Location: CBK Apiary, Bodnant Garden
- Course Fee: £110 (includes a copy of the Haynes Bee Manual)
- Membership Requirement: Participants must hold CBK Membership (£27 single membership, granting WBKA affiliation, Public Liability, and Bee Disease Insurance for up to 3 colonies)
Theory Sessions
Tuesday evenings, 6:45 PM – 9:15 PM (includes refreshment break)
- Topics: Equipment, hive types/placement, bee biology, safe handling, sting management, calendar duties, pest/disease control, and honey extraction.

Practical Apiary Sessions
Hands-on colony inspections alongside volunteer beekeepers to build your confidence and skills.

Ongoing Support
- Bee Buddy Scheme: we will endeavour to pair you with an experienced beekeeper for your first year.
