Hive records
Good hive records are essential. Relying on memory, scraps of paper or a notebook is no substitute for a structured hive record card, which provides a simple checklist for inspections and tasks.
Our hive record card is based on the BBKA format. You can tick the relevant boxes and note any work to be done.
How to store your records
- If kept under the hive roof, store the card in a clear plastic folder to prevent damage.
- Alternatively, keep records in a loose-leaf folder, organised by apiary.
- Include your contact details in case the folder is lost.
Winter preparation record
The winter preparation record card helps plan key seasonal tasks such as autumn feeding, varroa treatment (e.g. Apiguard), and adding supers for late ivy honey.
Use one card per apiary. Aim to complete winter preparation by early October.
Notes
- You can modify the record cards before printing to suit your needs.
- Dates shown on the cards are examples only.
